Harambee Stars midfielder David 'Cheche' Ochieng' was on the score sheet for the brewers' as they register comfortable victory against the Seychelles champions
Micheal Olunga scored twice while David 'Cheche' Ochieng and Andrew Ssekayomba were on the score sheet as the Kenya champions cancelled an early strike from the hosts to garner a healthy advantage that will come handy when the two teams meet in Nairobi in a fortnight’s time.
The result will come as a big boost to Tusker coach Robert Matano, who is seeking to exorcise the ghosts of poor results of his predecessor Sammy Omollo, that include losing at this stage to Rwandan side APR during last year's competition.
The Seychelles side now needs to win this match by four clear goals to advance to the first round of the competition. Tusker coach Robert Matano told Goal.com that he was satisfied with the result.
“I admire the way the side did not panic after conceding first. Overall it was a good outing and we have done much work in pre season and the results are beginning to show. We will not take anything for granted and we're keen to prepare well for the return leg."
Meanwhile Fkf Chairman congratulated Tusker on the win. “I am very impressed by Tusker. This is a clear sign that the football standards in the country are beginning to improve and I wish all the teams the very best in future assignments."
If the Ruaraka-based brewers sail through, they will play Al Ahly of Egypt in the next round with the first match scheduled for Nairobi. Al Ahly got a bye to the first round and will not be taking part in the preliminary round of the Champions League.
