Gor Mahia will play FKF Division One side Kariobangi Sharks in a pre-season friendly match at the Nairobi City Stadium on Saturday 9.
According to Gor Mahia acting Team Manager Iddi Salim, the friendly match has been slotted in place of the postponed KPL League opener - DSTV Super Cup - earlier scheduled for the same date, but now pushed back to February 23.
“We will be playing Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday because we need to keep the players in active competing form as part of our preparations. The season kick-off is still three weeks away and we needed to re-adjust our programme,” Salim told the club's official website.
Kariobangi Sharks finished 7th in Zone A of the FKF Division One league last season. Gor Mahia are getting ready for the Confederation Cup, where they have been pitted against Anse Re-Union of Seychelles in the preliminary contest.
Last weekend, Gor Mahia failed to capture the Charity Cup after going down to Sofapaka on post match penalties in the final of the inaugural tournament played at Moi Kasarani.
