The strikers' agent Bernard Opondo reveals to Goal.com that he was waiting for a final word from the club's hierarchy before sending him awayGiovanni Rodriguez's agent has confirmed that the player will return back to Brazil after failing to be registered by Gor Mahia at the close of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) transfer window last week.
The agent, Bernard Opondo, said it will not make sense to keep the player in Nairobi any longer and was waiting for a final word from the Gor Mahia hierarchy before sending away Rodriguez.
He termed it a shame the decision to leave out Rodriguez and warned of unspecified action against Gor Mahia.
"We are all very disappointed by this action. It has put our country to shame and once again proves that we are still amateurish and a long way from embracing professionalism," Opondo told Goal.com.
"There is no way you can get a football player ready in a few days. It takes time because this is not boxing. We are weighing our options but one thing I can promise is that there will repercussions for Gor."
He insisted that with time, Rodriguez would have made the cut to play for Gor as he was working hard towards it. The player was omitted from the final list of players submitted to KPL last Thursday meaning that he will not represent the club in the league.
Before then, Rodriguez was at the centre of controversy between Gor Mahia coach Zradvko Logarusic and the club management. Logarusic refused to sign the player insisting he was not good enough for Gor while the management wanting him to be given more time.
