Ulinzi Stars coach Salim Ali: Our guns are charged and ready for 2013 campaign

The youthful coach, who previously handled Mathare Utd and Sofapaka, is impressed with the way the team is responding to training methods and tactics
Ulinzi Stars head coach Salim Ali says he is impressed with the way the team is responding to training and tactics during pre-season and declared that the team will be going all out to reclaim the league title.

The youthful coach, who previously handled Mathare United and Sofapaka, shunned the advances of AFC Leopards to join the 2010 league champions in December on a two year deal. The Dutch trained tactician spoke to Goal.com after watching his side thrash Nanyuki Finlays 6-0 in a friendly.

"I am satisfied with the work we have done for the past six weeks. The boys are all in good shape and such results will only motivate them ahead of the new campaign. We don't fear anyone and we should be on course to reclaim the title."

Lawrence Owino, Wycliffe Ochomo, Kelvin Ouma, Allan Muhati and new signing Justin Onwong netted for the victors. The soldiers will now meet Nanyuki Combined in their final pre-season match at Kenyatta Stadium on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the army men's top scorer in the 2012 season Evans Amwoka says that he targets to improve his performance this season. Amwoka hit 11 goals and was the third best scorer in the league. The striker struck a hat-trick as Ulinzi Stars beat Nanyuki Sportiff 3-0 in a friendly match in Nanyuki on Sunday.

“Last season was a good season for me but I don’t intend to stop there. The achievement I had encouraged me to work harder and that is my goal this season," said Amwoka.

“I want to be the top scorer in the league and I have set my bar at scoring 20 goals this season. I know I can make it with hard work and determination. The new Coach is also imparting a lot in us and I am positive the season will be great."

“This is something I have been looking forward to. Everyone is enjoying the time we are having in Nanyuki and the cohesion in the team as well as team spirit is really growing. We will be better when we go back to Nakuru and this gives us a good headstart for the league."
