Kenya defender Brian Mandela ruled out of Harambee Stars friendly against Libya

Kenya centre half and Sanlam Santos defender Brian Mandela has been ruled out of Harambee Stars friendly against Libya scheduled for Tunis, Tunisia on February 6.
Stars assistant coach James Nandwa confirmed to on Thursday that the towering full back is struggling with a knee injury suffered while featuring for his South African club and will not be fit to face the Mediterranean Knights.

Also ruled out of the team is Thika United midfielder Clifton Miheso, who currently is undergoing trials with top South African outfit Supersport United.

Nandwa added that apart from Mandela and Miheso, the availability of fit-again Inter-Milan midfielder MacDonald Mariga, was yet to be confirmed.

"The information we have as at now is that we will be missing Mandela (Brian) through injury, but we will see if there is any good news after we report to camp on Thursday. Mariga is yet to fully commit as we are still waiting to hear from his agent."

"In regards to Miheso...he just started trials with Supersport and we don't intend to disrupt his training. We want him (Miheso) to concentrate and we wish him all the best."

Apart from the duo, the other foreign legion comprising of captain and AC Ajaccio striker Dennis Oliech, Ayub Timbe (Belgium), Victor Wanyama (Scotland), Arnold Origi (Norway), Humphrey Mieno (Tanzania) and David Gateri (South Africa), have confirmed their availability.

Nandwa revealed that some of the foreign legion will link up with the team directly in Tunis on February 2 ahead of the friendly. The friendly, which falls under the Fifa calender, will be played in Tunisia because of security reasons.
