Kenya champions Tusker players make 'best eleven' team from Mapinduzi Cup

Ex-Mathare striker Jesse Were, fellow new acquisitions Khalid Aucho and Robert Omunuk - both from Uganda have also been nominated to the team
Former Mathare United forward Jesse Were leads the list of three Tusker FC players nominated to the 'best eleven' team after the just concluded Mapinduzi Cup tournament in Zanzibar.

The upcoming youngster finished the competition with a remarkable four goals from five outings and his efforts didn't go unnoticed, as the tournament organizers nominated him in the team of the tournament alongside teammates and fellow new signings Khalid Aucho and Robert Omunuk - both from Uganda.

Kenyan international Humphrey Mieno who dazzled spectators during the competition and scored one goal for his side Azam FC also makes the team, but the lanky midfielders' teammate and compatriot Joakins Atudo is a surprise omission despite commanding displays from his central defence position and two goals contribution.

Tusker alongside host team Miembeni, boasts of the most players in the best eleven (3). Tournament winners Azam and Simba SC  - both from Tanzania have two players each in the team while another Tanzanian side Coastal Union has one player.

Azam beat Tusker 2-1 to clinch the tournament on Saturday, for the second successive time. The winners bagged Ksh600,000 whereas the runners up pocketed Kshs300,000.
