Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Ulinzi Stars midfielder Stephen Ocholla was voted the best player of 2012 season on Friday.
Ocholla beat off stiff competition from other Ulinzi Stars players who had been exceptional throughout the season to clinch the Award.
Ocholla was rewarded during the annual Ulinzi Stars' player of the year awards gala at Midlands Hotel in Nakuru.
Jacktone Odhiambo was voted as the best keeper, Kelvin “Oush” Ouma was voted the best defender, Chester Okoyo the best midfielder, James Saruni as the most disciplined player while Evans Amwoka was feted for being last season’s top scorer.
Number one fan Apollo was handed with the Chairman’s award for his die hard support to the team.
Meanwhile, the army side will hold their three week pre-season training camp in Nanyuki. The team will depart for Nanyuki this week where apart from training, they will hold team building sessions.
“We want to have a high altitude training for the team to improve the conditioning. We will depart for Nanyuki this week and come back probably three or four days to the Gor Mahia 2013 Kenya Premier League opening match,” Chairman Lt. Col. JS Mwinyikai told the club's official website.
