KPL CEO Jack Oguda confirms to Goal.com that the changes have been necessitated to pave way for the Africa Cup of Nations final in South Africa

This year’s Kenyan Premier League (KPL) kick-off dates have been pushed forward from February 9 to February 16.

KPL CEO Jack Oguda confirmed to Goal.com that they had been forced to push the dates forward by a week to pave way for the Africa Cup of Nations.

"We felt it was wise to move our dates forward .This has been necessitated by the Cup of Nations finals. Since it will coincide with our fixtures we do not want to miss out on the media hype."

"We want to begin the new season on a sound note and it would be prudent that the league gets a lot of hype in the media which would not be possible with the Cup of Nations still going on."
