Juventus star Andrea Pirlo: Wanyama will determine Celtic's Champions League fate

The Old Lady will face the British side in the round of 16 of the Champions League and Pirlo believes Celtic's hopes of progressing lies on the Kenyan

Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo says Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama is the key player at Scottish league side Celtic.

The Old Lady has been drawn against the British outfit in the round of 16 of the Uefa Champions League with the first leg set to be staged on February 12 in Glascow, and the respected play maker who cheekily converted a penalty against England during the Euro 2012 revealed to tribalfootball the opposing player he believes would damage his sides chances.

"I look at Celtic and the player you think could do that for them is Victor Wanyama. He is so young, but already he has proved himself to be a big-game player. His performance in the win over Barcelona was exceptional."

"He has the attributes of a young Patrick Vieira. The first game in Glasgow we know will be a tough one, so it is important we don’t let Wanyama control the game in the middle."

Wanyama's has been in superb form for club and country this season after bagging seven goals, performances that have seen him linked with a host of several European clubs.
