Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Gor Mahia have earmarked the Moi Stadium in Kisumu for continental engagements this season.
K'ogalo earned qualification to represent Kenya in the prestigious African Confederation Cup in 2013, after beating Sofapaka FC on post match penalties in the final of FKF domestic Cup.
This development was confirmed to Goal.com by the club's deputy Secretary General Ronald Ngala.
"The Confederation of African Football (Caf) rules stipulates that we have to select three venues for continental assignments. We settled for the Nyayo Stadium, Kasarani and Moi Stadium in Kisumu in that order."
"You are aware we have quite a supportive fan base in Western Kenya. Besides the club has history at the venue, we beat El Merreikh during the Mandela Cup in 1987 at the same venue (en route to lifting the trophy)."
Gor Mahia have been drawn against little known Anse Re Union FC in the preliminary round of the continental tournament next month. Should the Kenyan team advance, a potentially tough challenge against Egyptian side ENIPPI awaits them.
Gor Mahia is the second KPL team, after Western Stima to declare interest in using the 20,000 seater Moi Stadium, that is currently under renovation.
