A signed statement from the Kenya FA confirms the appointment of Esakwa, who has been the deputy secretary and now takes over from Joseph Agola

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has appointed Michael Esakwa the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the federation on a permanent basis with immediate effect.

A statement from the Kenya FA confirmed the appointment of Esakwa, who has been the federation's deputy secretary general and now takes over from Joseph Agola, who was the acting CEO.

“Agola will continue with his duties as the Federations’ Finance Officer. The appointment of Esakwa was endorsed by the federations’ chairman and the NEC Members and approved by the World Football Governing Body (FIFA),” the statement read in part.

A letter from FIFA signed by Thierry Regnus, in charge of member association, also confirmed the endorsement of Esakwa's appointment by the World governing body.

“We acknowledge the appointment of Esakwa as the Kenya FA Secretary General owing to his long experience as a football administrator. We believe he will be able to steer the federation into greater heights and as Fifa recommend his appointment.”

Esakwa now becomes a third person to handle the CEO's portfolio. Before, Agola, Kenya FA were forced to replace Omondi Aduda, who was on an acting capacity.

During the changes effected by President Sam Nyamweya, Aduda was handed the Operations Managers' position which he turned down. Reliable sources later confirmed that Aduda had taken up the post after 'thorough consultations.'
