The milk men's tactician pours cold water on centre forward Moses Arita’s decision to join league champions Tusker FC saying 'we will cope well'Thika United head coach John Irungu believes that his unchanged squad still has the quality to mount a strong challenge for trophies when action resumes on February 14.
Irungu at the same time poured cold water on centre forward Moses Arita’s decision to join league champions Tusker FC saying it will not affect his team since ‘we have enough depth within the squad that will step up and fill his shoes.”
“Arita (Moses) has joined Tusker and we wish him well. We are not worried because we have able players who can ably fill the void,” Irungu told Goal.com.
“We have brought on board Odera Ezekiel as the only out and out striker, but the likes of Aswani Kepha, Kahata Francis and Clifton Miheso are all goal getters so we are not worried with the attacking options we already have.”
Irungu said the team is still active in the transfer market and are eying one more striker before the window closes on January 31.
“I still need one more striker, but I will not be signing more other players because I have retained most of those who featured in the 2012 campaign.”
The ‘milk’ men will report for pre-season training on January 4. Irungu revealed that he will use the subsequent two days (January 4 and 5) to prepare the players mentally and also ascertain players fitness ahead of the long season expected.
