thumbnail Hello,

The youthful duo who lit up the league with impressive performances for the club during second leg of the last campaign, are headed to sign for Tusker

Mathare United captain Anthony Kimani has described the impending departures of forwards Jesse Were and Andrew Tololwa as a 'big blow' to the 2008 Kenyan Premier League champions.

The youthful duo who lit up the league with impressive performances for the club during the second stanza of the last campaign, are said to be on the verge of securing moves to defending champions Tusker FC ahead of the 2013 season.

"It is true, both (players) could leave...now that is what I call a big blow, the two have really come off age especially with their performances in the second leg of the previous campaign, and had they remained we would have a great chance of contesting for the title," Kimani told Goal.com.

After a disastrous start to the 2012 season, the 'slum boys' turned around the Kenyan Premier League campaign following the elevation of youthful coach Stanley Okumbi as a replacement for veteran Gabriel Kingi.

The team - buoyed by an impressive run of 9 wins out of the 15 duels in the second leg - eventually finished the season in tenth position.
