Stars coach Nandwa beefs up squad to face Burundi by recalling striker Baraza

The veteran striker comes in as a replacement for Rama Salim who is said to have travelled to Dubai while Gor's David Owino comes in for injured Situma
Harambee Stars coach James Nandwa has recalled veteran striker Mike Baraza to the squad preparing to face Burundi's Swallows in the return leg of the CHAN qualifier in Nairobi.

Nandwa said that he had opted to draft into the team the experienced Baraza of AFC Leopards since Rama Salim is understood to have traveled to Dubai and he is not certain of his return.

"We had to take measures. Salim (Rama) is out of the country. I am made to understand that he has travelled to Dubai and we needed a replacement and am confident Baraza will fit in well."

Gor Mahia defender David Owino has also been recalled as a replacement for the injured James Situma.

"I want to have a very solid defense hence my decision to bring Owino on board. We do not want to concede in the return leg," Nandwa told

The coach however, added that he has left the doors open to Situma and should he recover in time ahead of the return leg, he could make a comeback to the squad. Kenya will be seeking to overturn a 1-0 first leg defeat suffered in Bujumbura.
