It has emerged that players' passports were collected by an FA official and were stamped to indicate the women team had traveled to Tanzania

Football Kenya Federation President Sam Nyamweya has called upon the government to investigate the alleged 'passport scandal' involving the Kenyan national women's team.

Reputable reports indicate that the player's passports were collected by a federation official and stamped at a Government office sometime back, to indicate that the team had indeed left the country to honor an international assignment.

And in a letter addressed to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports and copied to the Minister of Sports dated December 18, 2012, Nyamweya has urged the suspected culprits to be investigated and if found guilty brought to book.

"We have been reliably informed that our girls national team's passports were collected by (Asha Pili) and taken to the Ministry of Sports, stamped indicating that the traveled to Tanzania while they did not. This is a serious scandal and we are requesting thorough investigation as we have in the past complained of interference in football activities by the government."

Meanwhile, the suspected official has refused to comment on the matter.
