MacDonald Mariga once again warmed the bench for the entire 90 minutes as Inter Milan suffered a 1-0 defeat to Lazio in a Serie A match played on Saturday at the Stadio Olimpico.

German international Mirosalv Klose put the Nerazzurri to the sword with the only goal of the match that ensured they picked maximum points at home.

Inter however, remain second on the log with 34 points from 17 outings while Turin-based giants Juventus is still perched at the top with 41 points from as many number of games.

Napoli is third with Lazio fourth all on equal number of points (33) though the latter has an inferior goal difference. Inter’s next match is on Saturday at home to Genoa.


Victor Wanyama continued with his impressive displays for Celtic scoring the first goal in his side’s 2-0 victory over St.Mirren on Saturday in a Scottish Premier League match.

Gary Hooper was also on target in the 83rd minute as their strikes ensured that the SPL champions went four points clear at the top of the standings.

The Kenyan gave the home side the lead after just 15 minutes before Hooper secured all three points with a cool finish seven minutes from full-time.

The goal scorers were the only two changes Neil Lennon had made to the side which defeated Arbroath in the Scottish Cup midweek, with Lassad and Emilio Izaguirre dropping to the bench as a result.

Saturday's goal took Wanyama’s league tally to five this season. His club is top on 34 points, four above second placed Motherwell.


Dennis Oliech featured prominently French Ligue 2 side AJ Auxerre suffered a 2-1 defeat to rivals Angers FC in a league match played at the Stade Jean Bouin stadium on Friday.

Oliech who was in prolific form in the last engagement scoring a goal to help his side rally from behind to grab a 4-2 win over Niort, could however, not find the target at the Jean Bouin stadium.

An early own goal by Christopher Julien in the 9th minute put the hosts ahead before Willy Boly restored parity for Auxerre in the 29th minute.

Angers however, continued to press with endless waves of attacks and their efforts were rewarded in the 89th minutewhen Jean Nsame notched in a last grasp winner to ensure the hosts picked maximum points.

The win took Angers to position four on the log with 30 points while Auxerre is at position 13 with 21 points from 18 games. Oliech's next assignment will be on Saturday when he faces former club FC Nantes at home.


Ayub Timbe,  returned to KRC Genk’ bench but did not feature as his side were handed a 3-2  beating by Zulte Waregem in a Belgian Jupiter league match played on Saturday at the Regenboog stadium.

Genk were the first to find the target in the 37th minute when Bruno Godeau scored into his own net. The home side however, rallied to draw level when Malanda Adje equalized for his side in added time of first half. Leye M’Mbaye added a second in the 60thminute before F. Beerier scored the winning goal in 72nd minute.

Genk pulled a late goal in injury time through Khaleem Hyland but it was too little too late to salvage a point. The defeat left Timbe’s Genk at position five on the log standings with 35 points from 20 games while Waregem is second on 40 points from as many number of games. Anderlecht is top on 46 points.


Patrick ‘Armando’ Osiako was unused substitute as his Israeli-based club Hapoel Beersheva succumbed to a 3-2 defeat away to Bnei Sakhnin on Saturday.

S. Harush, A. Kasum and H. Ghnayim were on target for the hosts while D. Gabay scored Hapoel's goals. The defeat leaves Osiako’s side rooted at position seven in the 14 team-table with 19 points.
