Coach James Nandwa remains confident that Kenya will start well in CHAN qualifiers when they take on Burundi in the first leg match on Sunday

New Tusker FC signing Ismael Dunga is the sole omission from Harambee Stars squad that was scheduled to depart on Friday (3pm local time) for Burundi, Bujumbura.

Harambee Stars head coach James Nandwa said that he was forced to axe the player as they had been informed that they could only take 19 players. The rest of the squad remains unchanged.

“We had no choice but to drop one player as we could only take a maximum of 19. The rest of the squad remains intact. All are fit and there is no injury concern,” Nandwa told Goal.com.

Earlier, the team's departure was delayed as it emerged that the plane to Bujumburua could not accomodate the travelling party of 26.

Stars lock horns with Burundi on Sunday in the first leg match of the Africa Nations Champions (Chan) qualifiers.

Nandwa exuded confidence that the squad he has picked has the ‘steel’ and pedigree to grab maximum points from the Swallows.

Sofapaka goalkeeper Duncan Ochieng will captain the side while his teammate at club level James Situma will deputize.

Kenya beat Burundi 1-0 the last time they met in 2009 in Nairobi with the Heroes winning the only other encounter between the pair by the same scoreline in 2007.
