thumbnail Hello,

His teammate James Situma will deputize as Kenya seek to beat Burundi in the first leg tie of the Africa Nations qualifiers in Bujumbura on Sunday

Sofapaka goalkeeper Duncan Ochieng will captain the national soccer team that is scheduled to face Burundi in the preliminary round of the African Nations Championships (Chan) qualifiers on Sunday.

Ochieng who was one of the five new call ups to the team by coach James Nandwa played a pivotal role when the Kenyan select team lost out to Uganda Cranes in a hotly contested final. The other players called up from the Cecafa team include David Ochieng', Clifton Miheso and Abdalla Juma.

Ochieng's club teammate James Situma will be his assistant. At the same time FKF Technical head Elly Mukolwe has explained the reasons behind the rescheduling of the Burundi trip. Kenya were due to jet out this (Thursday) afternoon but that has been pushed forward to Friday.

"We depart on Friday at 10am. Their is no hurry. The game is on Sunday. The coach required two more sessions to work on tactics as its risky to plan away from home. I believe this team will put up a good showing in Bujumbura and we will come with a positive result ahead of the second leg."
