Kenya skipper and AJ Auxerre hit-man Dennis Oliech finally found his shooting boots as he struck the first goal in the team's 4-2 victory over Niort in a French Ligue 2 match played on Tuesday night at the Stade de Abbe.
The win was a massive boost for the struggling Auxerre who had gone four games without victory. Their poor run had seen them slump to the lower end of the twenty team table.
However, against Niort, the home side had to deal with an early scare as they rallied from two goals down to grab the vital points.
Jean Gatien and Luigi Glombard struck eagerly goals in the 7th and 22nd minutes respectively to put the visitors ahead but the speedy Oliech pulled one back for his side in the 32nd minute before Obou Kapo added another to restore parity just three minutes after the break.
The home side then benefited from an own goal scored by F. Bong before wrapping up the proceedings in the 89th minute when Yaya Sanogo slotted home the last goal to put the game beyond the reach of the opposition sending the 4,389 spectators to a frenzy.
The victory saw Auxerre leap to position 11 on the log standings with 21 points.
