Goal.com follows the exploits of Kenyans playing their football outside of the country, in the top European leagues and beyond

ITALY

MacDonald Mariga was unused substitute as Inter Milan cruised to a hard fought 2-1 victory over Napoli in a Serie A league match played on Sunday at the San Siro.

Last week, Mariga featured as a late substitute, but did not get to kick the ball this time around as manager Andrea Stramaccioni confined him to the bench.

F. Guarin send the over 40,000 crowd roaring when he stuck early in the 8th minute to put Inter ahead. Twenty minutes later Guarin turned the provider setting Argentine Diego Milito to widen the lead.

The visitors pulled one back in the 54th minute through Edinson Cavani, but it was not enough to deny Inter maximum points. The Nerazzurri are now rooted second on 34 points behind Juventus who top with four points more while Napoli is third on 33 points.

SCOTLAND

Victor Wanyama featured in the entire match as Celtic FC cemented their top position at the Scottish Premier League (SPL) summit with a dominant and stylish 3-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Saturday.

Wanyama who was returning to the starting line-up after missing last week’s Champions League victory over Benfica through suspension, played in his normal holding midfield position and was a busy man throughout the game tracking forward and forth as he covered every blade of grass for the ‘Bhoys’.

Scott Brown capped off an inspirational display to fire Celtic ahead deservedly in the first-half in the 27th minute and Joe Ledley doubled the advantage after the break when he stuck in the 65th minute.

Substitute Georgios Samaras rounded of the scoring with just over 15 minutes remaining following a terrific collective effort. Cillian Sheridan pulled a goal back for Kilmarnock as the clock ticked down to restore some pride for the hosts.

The win leaves Celtic with 31 points, three clear of second placed Inverness with a game at hand.

FRANCE

Skipper Dennis Oliech will be in action for the mis-firing Auxerre side on Tuesday night when they bid to halt their poor run in the French 2 Ligue against Niort at home.

The poor run by Auxerre has seen them lose ground in the race to make a quick return to top flight league next season. They currently sit at position 16 on the 20 team-table on 18 points 14 shy of leaders Monaco.

With victory needed at whatever price, the Kenyan ace could be recalled to spearhead the attacks after making a cameo appearance in last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Chateauroux.

BELGIUM

Attacking midfielder Ayub Timbe did not feature at the weekend as Racing Genk registered a big 4-1 home victory over Lierse in  Belgian Jupiter league match played at the Cristal Arena.

E.Barda grabbed a brace while J.Gorius and G .Plet were also on target as they picked three points.

Hazusov scored Lierese’s loan goal in the 66th minute. Genk is now third on the log on 35 points behind leaders Anderlecht and second placed Zulte-Waregem.

ISRAEL

Patrick Osiako’s Hapoel Be’er Sheva emerged triumphant beating Ironi Ramat 1-0 in a Ligat league match played on Saturday away to Ironi’ at Stadium-Yankele.

Grundman Gavish scored the solitary goal in the 37th minute to take Sheva to a fifth slot on the log with 19 points, nine adrift of leaders Hapoel Tel Aviv.
