USA-based Lawrence Olum, Azam defender Ibrahim Shikanda, Paul Kiongera (KCB), Martin Imbalambala (AFC Leopards) and goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch (Tusker), have been axed from the Kenya squad for the Cecafa Challenge Cup.

Coach James Nandwa on Tuesday named a squad of 20 players for the regional tournament with Mathare United defender Anthony Kimani, who earned a late call-up, making the team.

Kenya have been pooled in Group "A" alongside debutantes South Sudan, Uganda and Ethiopia. Group "B" incorporates Sudan, Tanzania, Somalia and Burundi while Group "C" comprises Malawi, Rwanda, Zanzibar and Eritrea.

The tournament will kick-off on Saturday at Namboole Stadium in Kampala with Kenya taking on Uganda Cranes in the second match of the day.

Ethiopia, who will represent the East African region at the Afcon 2013, will play the opening match against South Sudan. Malawi have been incorporated into the tournament as guest team.
