Kenya FA President Sam Nyamweya has said he would carter for hospital bills of the injured football players of Kola FC who were involved in a grisly road accident on Saturday after attending a District League match against Marereni FC in Malindi.

Nyamweya who visited the survivors at the Malindi District hospital on Sunday, a day after the fatal accident said it was unfortunate to lose young talents through road carnage.

“I visited the casualties at the Malindi District Hospital and I have decided to pay for their x-rays and other hospital bills. I will also buy coffins for the four dead players and I am asking the government to help the bereaved families and injured players in whichever way possible,” said Nyamweya in a signed statement.

The accident occurred when the van carrying members of Kola FC rolled several times after it was hit on its side by a track carrying salt on their way back from a league match, at the notorious Marereni road past Kongoni near Malindi.

Four members of the team are said to have died on the spot while five others were admitted at a local hospital in critical condition.
