Kenya FA President Nyamweya reveals to Goal.com that should the brewers' lift FKF Cup, then K'ogallo will feature in Confederation Cup next seasonDefending Football Kenya Federation Cup champions Gor Mahia could still represent Kenya in the Confederations Cup tournament next year, whether or not they retain the domestic Cup this season.
Gor Mahia - who finished second behind Tusker in the just concluded Kenya Premier League (KPL) campaign - are scheduled to play AFC Leopards in the semi-finals of the tournament on Saturday at Kasarani.
According to Kenya FA President Sam Nyamweya, should Tusker follow up the KPL title with the FKF Cup triumph and opt for the lucrative African Champions League, then the second placed team in the KPL and in this case (Gor Mahia) will take up the opportunity of representing the country in Confederation Cup.
FKF Cup winners are the bonafide country representatives in the Confederations Cup.
"If such a situation happens (Tusker win a double - the league and FKF Cup), then Gor Mahia, who finished the just concluded league in second position, will automatically represent the country in Confederation Cup."
"It's very imperative that the best teams carry the country's flag in continental assignments," Nyamweya told Goal.com.
Tusker are scheduled to play Sofapaka in the other semi-final of this tournament on Sunday.
