The East African neighbors and rivals have been pooled together in Group A, and will square off in the opening match of the tournament on November 24Uganda Cranes coach Bobby Williamson has played down the rising hype ahead of the opening tie against Kenya in the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.
The East African neighbors and rivals have been pooled together in Group A, and will square off in the opening match of the tournament at the 45,000 seater Namboole Stadium in Kampala on November 24.
“They (Kenya) will offer us some good competition; we need to be sharp from the opening game. We have been involved with them in the past so we have an idea on what to expect, we however, don’t fear them.”
Besides Uganda, Kenya will also play Ethiopia – who’ve qualified for the 2013 African Cup of Nations - and South Sudan. Only two teams are guaranteed qualification to the quarter-finals from each of the three groups.
The Kenyan team is yet to officially begin preparations for the tournament.
