AFC Leopards coach Jan Koops has for the first time admitted that his team did not lose the Kenya Premier League (KPL) title on the final day.
Ingwe officially finished third on the standings after succumbing 1-0 to Chemelil Sugar in the final round of fixture played at Awendo Green Stadium. The defeat meant AFC finish behind champions Tusker FC and second placed Gor Mahia.
"Losing the title is a painful lesson because to be fair we relaxed a bit midway through the second half, and I believe the game against Western Stima (at Afraha Stadium, in which we lost 2-1), was the turning point, we lost our points advantage and crucially, a bit of confidence," he told Goal.com.
The Dutchman who has been at the helm of AFC Leopards for 18 months, however urged for support from the fans ahead of the season finale.
"We have the FKF Cup coming up and it give us a great opportunity to win the trophy and qualify for continental football, thereafter, we will have a chance to asses the full season without emotions and arrive at the way forward."
