Tusker coach Robert Matano has lauded Gor Mahia for the fight they put up in the Kenya Premier League title chase.
Speaking to Goal.com after Tusker retained the crown following a 3-0 hammering of City Stars on Saturday, Matano populary referred to as 'the Special One', said, "Gor Mahia deserved to be at the top because the entire second leg, they were the best team. I also like the way they competed with us because that shows the Kenyan league is growing."
"All in all in football there must be a winner and a loser and we are happy that the trophy returns to our cabinet."
The Brewers retained the title after goals from Maurice Odipo, Obadiah Ndege and Fredrick Ojwang ensures that they finish the league on 60 points one ahead of Gor Mahia, who could only manage a 1-1 draw against Thika United at City Stadium.
Matano said Tusker will now shift their attention to winning the FKF President's Cup in which they play Sofapaka in the semi-final.
"We are eying a double this season and the FKF Cup is part of my plans. We want to prepare well for the match against Sofapaka and after that draw a road map for the coming season."
This was Matano's second trophy in his managerial career with two different teams after lifting the same with Sofapaka in 2009.
