Victor Wanyama has capped a fine week by earning a spot in the UEFA team of the week. The team is selected by a panel of experts who rate the best performers featuring in Uefa competitions.
The 21 year-old's exploits in the Champions League earlier this week, where his powerful header helped Celtic to a shock defeat over Barcelona, as well as his all round display in nullifying the attacking threats from the likes of Andrea Iniesta, Lionel Messi, seem to have been enough to warrant him the spot.
The Kenyan lines up alongside other goal scoring midfielders William (Shaktar Donetsk, Brazil) and Oscar (Chelsea, Brazil) in the team with no other African player.
UEFA TEAM OF THE WEEK: Forster (Celtic): Torrosidis (Olympiakos), Schmelzer (Dortmund), Pepe (Real Madrid), Lamb (Bayern Munich), de Jong (Ajax), Wanyama (Celtic), Oscar (Chelsea), William (Shakhtar), Burak Yilmaz (Galatasaray), Pizarro (Bayern Munich).
