History in the making: Three trophies to be paraded in three venues as league ends
The original trophy will be at City Stadium where Gor will be up against Thika whereas two replica trophies will be paraded at Awendo and Hope Centre
For the first time in Kenya Premier League (KPL) history, three trophies will be paraded at three different venues when the league concludes on Saturday.
The original trophy will be at City Stadium where league leaders Gor Mahia will be up against Thika United whereas two replica trophies will be on parade at Awendo (AFC Leopards v Chemelil Sugar) and at Hope Centre (where City Stars have a date with champions Tusker FC).
“Gor versus Thika is the main match on Saturday because Gor are clear league leaders and so the original trophy will be at the venue of the match -City Stadium.”
“We have two replica trophies that will be at Hope Centre and Awendo, the venues of Tusker and City Stars and Chemelil and AFC Leopards matches respectively, since Tusker and Leopards also stand a chance of winning the title,” Oguda told Goal.com.
Oguda said that security arrangements for all the top three matches were complete, noting that Gor’s fixture would be given special attention, given the magnitude of the fixture.
He said the match between Sofapaka and Karuturi Sports will now be held at Thika Municipal Stadium.
Tickets for the Gor versus Thika match will go on sale from 6am on Saturday to avoid the printing of fake tickets. VIP will cost Ksh600, while terraces would cost Ksh300.
