English Premier League (EPL) giants Manchester United are stepping up their bid to land the highly rated Kenyan holding midfielder Victor Wanyama just two days after his Champions League conquest over Barcelona.
According to Daily Mail, Sir Alex Ferguson is keen on bringing the holding midfielder to Old Trafford after the player put up yet another impressive display at the Celtic Park on Wednesday night as they beat Spanish giants Barcelona 2-1.
Wanyama who played a key role in neutralizing the impact of midfield genius Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez, thumped in a header in the 21st minute to give the Hoops the lead before teenager Tony Watt made it 2-0. Lionel Messi pulled a consolation goal for the Catalans.
Manchester United’s Chief European scout Martin Ferguson watched the 21 year old Kenyan as Celtic made history on Wednesday night.
It is understood that Ferguson would be willing to launch a 12 million sterling pound bid in January. The Hoops head coach Neil Lennon recently slapped a 25million worth price on the player.
Other English sides Arsenal and Manchester City have also showed interest in acquiring the services of the former Germinal Beerschot holding midfielder.
Should the move materialize, Wanyama will become the first Kenyan to play in the lucrative EPL.
