Gor Mahia turns down Kenya FA request to have Thika match moved to Kasarani
K'ogalo secretary general George Bwana says being the home team, the duel must be played at their traditional home ground – City Stadium
Gor Mahia have turned down a request by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to move their final league match against Thika United to Kasarani from City Stadium.
Gor secretary general George Bwana has rubbished the request saying that they are the home team and the match must be played at their traditional home ground – City Stadium.
“As the home team we have made all the security arrangements and everything is set for the match. We have played bigger games against bigger teams like Tusker at this same venue, why is it becoming an issue now,” a furious Bwana told Goal.com.
Bwana added that the club will hold a press briefing on Thursday to come clean on the issue. On his part KPL CEO Jack Oguda confirmed that the Kenya FA had written a mail requesting that the venue of the match be changed for security reasons.
Kasarani was initially set to host the Mathare versus Sony Sugar clash, which FKF wants moved to City Stadium, as the two clubs do not command a huge following.
