Kenya midfielder Victor Wanyama ready to come up against Barcelona's Iniesta

Wanyama reveals how the Catalan stars complimented his superb display when the two sides clashed in Champions League match in Camp Nou

Kenya and Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama has revealed how Barcelona stars complimented his display when the two sides clashed in the UEFA Champions League match in Camp Nou.

The midfield star — valued at £25million by Hoops boss Neil Lennon — is looking forward to going up against Andrea Iniesta once more at Parkhead on Wednesday night in the Champions League return leg clash.

Wanyama told Sunsports: “It means so much to me. I also believe he (Andrea Iniesta) understands the history of our club. That’s why I think he asked for my shirt.”

“It’s just a great thing swapping shirts with one of the best players in the world.”

Wanyama insists the Celtic fans have a big role to play as they try to overcome arguably the greatest-ever team.

He added: “We have amazing fans and they will be singing for 90 minutes, getting behind the team. It’s fantastic playing before these fans. And it’s always a great atmosphere as well.”
