Namwamba says the task of improving football standards cannot be left to Kenya FA or his ministry, calls on a concerted effort by those involved

Sports Minister Ababu Namwamba has challenged football stakeholders to work together in raising the standards of the sport in the country.

Namwamba said the task of improving football standards cannot be left to Football Kenya Federation (Fkf) or his ministry alone and called on a concerted effort by all those involved to bring about improvement.

“I am concerned about the current football standards in the country considering that at least three of our players are playing in some of the top leagues in the world. I believe that we can do better than this but it does not depend on the federation alone."

“It calls for the involvement of all stakeholders to be able to turn around the dwindling standards and as a ministry we will do our best to ensure that things get better."

He also praised Fkf officials for engaging his ministry concerning the various measures they have put in place to turn around football standards in the country.

“We have had various discussions with Fkf and I am pleased that they have shown a lot of determination in turning around football standards in the country. They need support from all of us."

He also promised that his ministry is ready to help the federation with regard to every aspect of  the national team Harambee Stars and they are looking into a request made by Fkf regarding to the salary of head coach Henri Michel.
