Kenya midfielder Patrick "Armando" Osiako has been recalled to the national team Harambee Stars as replacement for Inter Milan ace Macdonald Mariga ahead of the South Africa friendly in Nairobi on October 16.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Omondi Aduda confirmed to Goal.com Kenya that Harambee Stars coach Henri Michel has settled for the midfielder who plies his trades with Israel side Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
“We have decided to bring on board Osiako as Mariga’s replacement for the South Africa friendly. We accept and understand Mariga’s request that he won’t be fit to play in the match. Mariga is still part of Harambee Stars' plans and the coach will consider him in future assignments."
Aduda also revealed that the other professionals Victor Wanyama (Scotland), Captain Dennis Oliech (France), Christian Bwamy (Norway), Ayub Timbe (Belgium) and Jerry Santos (Tanzania), had confirmed their availability for the friendly.
Mariga had revealed to Goal.com Kenya on Wednesday that he was not fit to feature in the match.
"I acknowledge the call up but I am not in a position to play at the moment. But if the federation asks for permission from my club, am willing to come to Nairobi during that period of the friendly and meet the coach and discuss the plans he has for me and the team in future," the Inter Milan ace said from his base in Italy.
