Kenya midfielder Macdonald Mariga says he has not fully recovered to feature in the international friendly against South Africa.
Mariga was amongst nine foreign based players named by Harambee Stars coach Henri Michel for the build up match against Bafana Bafana scheduled for October 16 in Nairobi.
"I acknowledge the call up but I am not in a position to play at the moment. But if the federation asks for permission from my club, am willing to come to Nairobi during that period of the friendly and meet the coach and discuss the plans he has for me and the team in future," the Inter Milan ace exclusively revealed to Goal.com Kenya from his base in Italy.
Mariga damaged his cruciate ligaments after falling awkwardly while playing for Parma (where he was on loan) against Novara in an Italian league match in April this year.
After the injury, Mariga was recalled to parent club Inter Milan from where he was operated on and has since started his rehabilitation.
"I am now working with the ball but I am not fit enough to play. Sometimes I train with the first team but mostly in the gym but I am pencilled to make a comeback with the reserves in mid November."
Other professionals called alongside Mariga include Victor Wanyama (Scotland), Captain Dennis Oliech (France), Christian Bwamy (Norway), Ayub Timbe (Belgium) and Jerry Santos (Tanzania).
