Reigning champs Tusker enhance title hopes after rallying from behind to beat ten man Thika United 2-1 in a thrilling league encounter at Nyayo

League defending champions Tusker FC enhanced their title hopes after rallying from behind to beat a ten man Thika United 2-1 in a thrilling league encounter at the Nyayo national stadium on Sunday.

Thika United began the match on a high note and bagged the lead in the 15th minute when Clifton Miheso drove in a neatly taken free-kick from the edge of the box which left the brewers goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch well beaten.

The ‘milk’ men dictated the proceedings in the entire first half. However after the break, Tusker took command and it was not long  before Congolese import Patrick  Kagogo pulled an equalizer in the 50th minute with a simple tap in after Thika’ s keeper Lucas Indeche had spilled a fierce Kenneth Wendo  strike from 25 yards.

Tusker continued to surge forward piling pressure and their determination bore fruit when right back Luke Ochieng made a penetrating run in the right flank to send a cross which Kenneth Wendo nodded into the net at the hour mark.

The win took Tusker’s points tally to 51. Elsewhere, AFC Leopards beat Muhoroni Youth 2-1 at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru to jump to position two. Jonas Nahimana put Leopards ahead witha brilliant header from a corner-kick in the 24th minute before striker Allan Wanga added another at the stroke of half time.

The home side got a consolation through a Gregory Nyapala’s strike in the 60th minute. Ingwe now have 48 points, three behind leaders Tusker while Gor Mahia which play on Wednesday slid to position three.

At the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, hosts Western Stima suffered a disappointing 0-1 loss to KCB. Geoffrey Mwaura scored the lone goal.
