Harambee Stars striker Allan Wanga has defended coach Henri Michel's recent statement over the regional senior challenge cup tournament.
Wanga said the Frenchman's description of the tournament as useless was taken out of context as he did not mean to say so.
"Being French, his statement was lost in the translation. He did not mean to say the regional tournament is useless," said Wanga.
He added:"even when we are training with him, sometimes he uses words that would sound funny in English but that is not what he means. As players we have learnt to understand him and he does not in any way look down upon the regional tournament."
Michel raised a furore this week with his description of the regional tournament as useless something that infuriated regional football chiefs.
