The 27-year old joins other top female whistlers from Africa appointed by the Continental body CAF to take charge of the matches
Kenya’s FIFA female assistant referee Mary Anne Njoroge has been short listed to officiate in the 8th Africa Women Championships finals set for Equatorial Guinea next month.
The 27-year old joins other top female whistlers from Africa appointed by the Continental body CAF to take charge of the matches.
According to CAF referees manager Bester Kalombo, Mary will have to undergo the mandatory physical test upon arrival and must pass before she is assigned matches.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) termed this as good news. “The federation is honored that CAF has noted the competence of our female whistlers who we have been engaging in the Premier League matches unlike other countries who only use their referees for women football.”
Mary will be joined by Malawian duo of Grace Masika and Bernadette Kwimbira as the only flag bearers from this region.
Eight countries will battle it out for the African feminine championships. 8 time African champions Nigeria is in group A alongside Cameroon, Corte d Ivore, Ethiopia while group B has Egypt, South Africa, Senegal, Dr Congo.
