AFC Leopards wrangles are far from over after reinstated head coach Jan Koops exchanged bitter words with secretary general Winston Kituyi in full glare of media cameras on Tuesday.
This happened shortly after Kituyi had told the media that Koops was still the head coach of the team despite claims on Monday that he had been suspended and Mickey Weche picked as replacement.
The Dutchman refused to shake Kituyi’s hand saying he was sabotaging his stay at the club. “I thought you are a gentleman who should be giving correct information of what is happening at AFC Leopards?” Koops asked Kituyi.
Kituyi, who looked shaken then retorted, “Is this the way you (Koops) want us to handle AFC matters…in front of people and more so the media?”
A source who sought anonymity later told Goal.com Kenya that Koops is not happy with the way Kituyi was handling the whole issue.
“Koops feels Kituyi’s is behind the problems facing him at the club. He (Koops) was also incensed that Kituyi went to the media on Monday to announce his suspension without even consulting him first.”
