Mathare United throw away a first half lead as the sugar millers score twice in the second half to pick a crucial point in league match
Tusker premier league sides Mathare United and Chemelil Sugar shared the spoils after battling to a 2-2 draw in a league match played at the Nairobi City Stadium on Friday.
The sugar millers were twice forced to rally from behind to salvage a point from the hard fighting hosts.
The “Slum Boys” who have started showing the thirst of recapturing their lost glory, had the prolific forward Andrew Tololwa to thank. Tololwa grabbed a brace scoring in the 24th and 62nd minutes respectively to put his side ahead.
Jared Ageme struck in between the 61st minute before his team mate Jared Omwenga leveled the score line with just three minutes left.
It was a frustrating afternoon for Mathare head coach Stanley Okumbi who not only saw his team’s early lead cancelled but also witnessed the strikers squander numerous scoring opportunities. The point picked took Mathare’s tally to 29 while Chemelil extended move to 32.
The match had began on a slow not with neither side showing the real thirst to grab an early win. It was only at the half hour match that real action began with the hosts rattling the cross bar.
