Gor Mahia fans had raised concerns on the team's preparations ahead of the decisive match saying the technical bench was treating training lightlyGor Mahia secretary general George Bwana has dismissed suggestions by club fans that the technical bench is treating the eagerly awaited derby against sworn rivals AFC Leopards lightly.
Bwana said that though the fans have every right to air their views and concern, they were not in any way treating the match lightly.
“Fans have every right to complain but the fact of the matter is that we are preparing adequately for match. Though a derby, it is just like any league match,” Bwana told Goal.com Kenya.
Bwana added that the team is merely following the instructions of the technical bench.
“The coach Zdravko Logarusic preferred to have this system of preparation. Before he left for Croatia, he had drawn up a preparation plan and that is what we are following.”
Whereas their opponents AFC Leopards have pitched camp at the serene Mumias Complex, K’ogalo have opted for light training at their Nairobi City Stadium.
Bwana said the coach is expected before Thursday ahead of the match. “We have already sent air ticket and we expect him to be back any time soon. We gave him a brief leave last week, but he can land any time’.”
Bwana revealed that the club management has scrapped plans to have a pre-match dinner that was initially scheduled to take place a day before the eagerly awaited match.
Bwana noted that they opted to scrap the Ksh5, 000 a plate dinner as “it would interfere with preparations for the match.”
“We have decided to do away with the dinner. We do not want to celebrate before the match. We might consider after the match.” The two giants lock horns on Saturday at the Moi Kasarani.
