Former Ingwe secretary general Khalid Njiraini pledges Sh50, 000 for every player if they beat Gor Mahia and Sh250, 000 if they win the league
AFC Leopards players will be rewarded with Ksh50, 000 each if they beat rivals Gor Mahia in Saturday’s Kenya derby and a further Sh250, 000 if they lift the league crown.
Former AFC secretary general Khalid Njiraini says the reward is a morale booster to the team that has experienced a fair share of form problems within the past one month, letting go a seven point advantage at the summit of the sixteen team table.
While pledging the cash reward, Njiraini called on other AFC fans to rally behind the team to lift its spirits before the crucial derby.
“This is the time the team needs everyone’s support to deliver the goods,” he said. The team resumed training for the derby at Mumias Complex on Monday with head coach Jan Koops promising an outright win against Gor Mahia.
“We are ready for the derby despite the shock defeat to Western Stima last Saturday. We want to focus for the derby and the response of my players is very positive."
AFC Leopards chairman Alex Ole Magello also reiterated that the boys have what it takes to claim all the three points. "We must win at all costs and such incentives will boost our quest to end the recent poor form."
