Striker Obadiah Ndege and defender Joackins Atudo were on target for the brewers who have now toppled AFC at the top of the league
Tusker tactician Robert Matano has taunted his title chasing rivals “we are the top to stay” after his first win against KCB propelled the reigning champions to the top of log.
Striker Obadiah Ndege and defender Joackins Atudo were on target for the brewers who have now toppled AFC Leopards at the top of the summit but on goal difference.
Tuskers have 45 points same as second placed AFC Leopards but the Ruaraka-based side are ahead by virtue of their superior goal difference which stands at +17 while Leopards goal difference stands at +14.
“I am pleased with the win. We played well because everybody was ready for the match and it reconfirms our commitment to retaining the league crown.”
This was Matano’s first win in the league since he took charge following the firing of former coach Sammy Omollo who has since joined relegation candidates Oserian FC.
“With six matches to go, we have to continue running. We will take a game at a time as it is a marathon race but we are now in a position where we can’t let the title slip away.”
“I know our opponents are also giving all they can but we are the champions and must play like champions. We don’t want to relinquish the top spot for now.” The brewer’s next match will be on Saturday when they face Karutruri Sports away in Navaisha.
