Sofapaka President Elly Kalekwa reveals that Asike impressed during recent trials with the Swedish Division two outfit and have begun talks to sale him

Former Kenya league champions Sofapaka FC have officially opened talks with Swedish division two (Superettan) side IF Brommapojkarna over the possibility of signing central defender Eugine Asike.

Sofapaka President Elly Kalekwa revealed to Goal.com on Wednesday that talks for the Swedish club to acquire the services of Asike had started in earnest after undergoing trials last week.

“Asike is already back in the country and the response is positive. They like him and are interested in his services. We have begun talks and will see how it goes.”

“The Swedish transfer window is still open until January, but we cannot say the exact time frame when the deal can be completed.”

Asike left the country a fortnight ago for the trials. The defender is set to be involved for his club in Wednesday night’s crunch tie against defending champions Tusker FC at Nyayo Stadium.

Asike is known for his composure in defending precise tackles and aerial threat balls. The defender joined the 'Batoto Ba Mungu' this season in the January transfer window after a successful two year stint with KCB.
