The self professed 'Lion' says that his boys are ready for football 'war' and will be going for maximum points against Batoto ba Mungu on Wednesday
Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano has thrown the spanner into the works ahead of Wednesday's looming showdown with Sofapaka FC in a crucial Kenya league match saying 'warriors go to battle to win.’
The self professed 'Lion' said that his boys are ready for the football 'war' and do not fear the opposition adding it was high time the brewers’ started winning matches in the league.
'We are ready, the match is bound to be tough but we do not fear them (Sofapaka). Those who go to battle front must be ready to conquer the opposition,” he told Goal.com Kenya.
“I have trained my team well, we picked a point against AFC Leopards in our last match and we want to build on this momentum.”
Matano is yet to win a league match since joining Tusker after the dismissal of Sammy “Pamzo” Omollo. Matano, who will be facing Sofapaka, a side he guided to premiership glory in 2009, has only won once a 13-0 thrashing of Wamo FC in the President’s Cup.
The flood lit match is expected to elicit fireworks as both the opposition have their eyes set on the ultimate target of landing the silverware.
Tusker is in third position with 41points while Sofapaka are fourth on 39 points. A win for the defending champions will see them haul Gor Mahia off the second spot as their points tally will move to 44, one above Gor and one shy of leaders AFC Leopards who are on points.
On the other hand a win for Sofapaka will see them dislodge the brewers off their third spot. Their points tally will move to 42, thus staying ahead of the Robert Matano coached side with a point more, while at the same time falling behind K'ogalo by as similar margin.
