Wanyama has been instrumental in Celtic’s campaign this season scoring the winning goal in a Champions League play-off match last week
Scottish champions Celtic FC have lost Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama to injury after limping off during Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Hibernian at Celtic Park.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon told the club’s official website that they had lost the combative midfielder through injury.
"We´ve lost Victor to injury as well," he said. "There´s no doubt we missed him. He's had a dead leg for quite a while and has been playing through it. It’s not major serious but it’s one that prevented him playing in the second half today."
Wanyama has been instrumental in Celtic’s campaign this season. He scored the team’s winning goal against Sweden side Helisinborg in a Champions League play-off match last Wednesday.
Lennon is however, optimistic that the team will bounce back from the 2-2 draw. "It´s been a great week and par the two goals I was pretty pleased with the performance," he said. We murdered them in the first half but if you miss easy chances and give away goals in the nature we did then you´re going to fight to win the game.”
"We missed simple chance after simple chance today but I was really pleased with some of the performances and I think we can count ourselves very unlucky not to win the game today.
"We played some great attacking football, particularly in the first half and we should have been out of sight at half time."
