Sofapaka and Gor Mahia reach last eight of FKF President Cup after registering respective victories over their opponents on Saturday
Sofapaka sailed through on account of a 4-2 victory over nationwide side Mahakama while Gor Mahia dispatched Western Stima 5-4 on post match penalties after the two sides had battled to a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
Attacking midfielder Humphrey Mieno was the hero of the day for Sofapaka grabbing a hat-trick to inspire his side to the big win as Osborne Monday who was making a comeback from a long injury lay off added another to seal the victory.
Mahakama got their consolation goals through Ambrose Kamau‘s strike shortly after the breather and an 80th minute goal from Brian Juma. Mieno shook the net in the 3rd, 30th and 48th with Monday putting his name on the score sheet in the 26th minute.
At the City stadium, midfielder Moses Otieno gave Gor the lead in the 3rd minute before Stima’s danger man Ali Bai levelled the score line in the27th minute.
However after ninety minutes of play neither side could outwit the other and it was the spot kicks that separated the two sides. K’ogalo converted all their spot kicks while Stima missed one.
At the Hope centre in Kawangware, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) also booked a quarter final’s berth after seeing off Wazito FC 2-1.
Tiego Collins and Richard Likhabu were on target for the tax men while Dennis Onyango scored for Wazito.
