Former Kenya league champions Sofapaka FC confirm that Asike left for Sweden on Sunday for trials with second tier side Superettan
Sofapaka FC central defender Eugene Asike has travelled to Sweden for a two-week trial with a Swedish Second tier side (Superettan) IF Brommapojkarna.
Sofapaka confirmed in their official website that Asike left the country for Sweden on Sunday.
“Eugene left the country on Sunday. He has been invited for trials in Sweden and we at Sofapaka would like to wish him all the best in his trials,” said the statement.
Meanwhile, Sofapaka’s stand-in coach David Ouma has challenged his charges to convert scoring opportunities that come their way especially after throwing away a first half lead in the dying minutes to settle to a 1-1 all draw with Chemelil Sugar in a league match on Saturday.
Defender Charles Odero scored from the spot in stoppage time as Chemelil rallied from behind to hold the former premiership champions.
“We lost many good chances that would have helped us seal the game and I’m not happy with the final result.”
Sofapaka is third in the sixteen-team KPL table with 39 points, same as Tusker which is second but enjoys a better goal difference.
