Kenya captain Dennis Oliech’s French side Auxerre’s good run in Ligue 1 was ended on Monday night after they crushed 1-3 to Len Mans FC in a match played at MMArena Stadium.
Oliech was handed his first start in the lower league by Coach Jean-Guy Wallemme but was substituted in the 67th minute for Terence Makengo. Len Mans were the better side scoring the opener in the 3rd minute through Fousseyni Cisse.
Auxerre, who are featuring in the Ligue after being relegated from top flight football in the French league last season, then leveled matters through Olivier Kapo in the 36th minute.
Two quick fire goals from Anthony Derouard and Frederic Thomas in the 53rd and 56th minutes respectively handed Len Mans the comfortable victory. Len Mans Cisse was then yellow carded in the 33rd minute while Auxerre’s Remy Enabanega and Steeven Langil were also booked.
Auxerre now remain eight in the league on six points. As Monaco top the standing on ten points followed by Dijon FCO while Oliech’s former club FC Nantes are third in the log.
Elsewhere, Kenyan international midfielder Patrick Osiako made his debut for new Israel club Hapel Beer Sheva as they won 2-0 against FC Asdod in a Toto Cup tournament.
The Kenyan completed his switch to the Israel side from Romanian Liga 1 side Petrplul Ploiesti.
Meanwhile, midfielder Victor Wanyama’s Celtic FC start their Champions League proper today when they face Swedish side Helsingborgs in the play-off first leg in Sweden.
Wanyama will however, not feature in the match since he his suspended.
