Kenya international midfielder Victor Wanyama’s Scottish side Celtic FC will face Helsingborgs of Sweden in the 2012-13 Champions League play-offs following Friday's draw in Nyon.
Neil Lennon's side progressed to the play-off stage following a 4-1 aggregate victory over HJK Helsinki. Celtic will play the first game away on August 21 with the return in Glasgow on August 21.
This will be the first time Celtic are facing a Swedish club in European competition. Wanyama, who was pivotal in the team’s qualification, could not finish the return leg match after being red carded.
Wanyama became the third Kenyan in history to feature in the Champions League. His brother Macdonald Mariga was the first playing for Inter Milan during the Italian’s 2-0 triumph over Bayern Munich in the 2010 final.
Harambee Stars captain Dennis Oliech was the second turning out for French side Auxerre in 2011.
Udinese will meet Braga while in the other four fixtures via the league route, Borussia Monchengladbach take on Dynamo Kiev, while Malaga face Panathinaikos.
Furthermore, Russian giants Spartak Moscow will have to deal with Fenerbahce and 2010-11 Ligue 1 champions Lille await a tie versus Copenhagen.
