Rooney could miss Galatasaray match
The Manchester United striker continues to recover from tonsillitis and may not travel to Istanbul for the Red Devils' penultimate Champions League group stage fixture
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney could miss the club's Champions League match against Galatasaray on Tuesday.Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that Rooney was set to be assessed by the club's medical staff on Sunday after a bout of tonsillitis ruled him out of the 1-0 defeat against Norwich City.
The manager is likely to make a decision based on Monday's training session before the team's departure for Istanbul.
"He's had tonsillitis," Sir Alex told MUTV on Saturday. "We hope he'll be in [on Sunday] - we'll see what he's like then.
"If he does [come in] hopefully we can get him ready for Tuesday."
Phil Jones, meanwhile, is expected to make his first appearance of the season in central defence. The 20-year-old has missed the start of the campaign with a knee injury.
In goal, however, Anders Lindegaard could continue as David de Gea continues to recover from the removal of two wisdom teeth last week.
